MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Haiti has approximately 25 doctors to every 10,000 people.
Not only is medical care rare, sometimes needed services are non-existent.
Even when a doctor is available, most families cannot afford to go to the doctor.
If they have enough money to see the doctor,
they seldom have enough money to buy any needed prescriptions.
If a family member is threatened with a major illness or surgery,
most often the treatment must be ignored due to the inability to pay.
