Construction of schools and tuition assistance programs bring hope!

GRACE School
GRACE School Offers Hope!

Hope found its way to a remote village in Haiti.
The village of Grann Plaine is located on the small island of Ile-a-Vache,
just off the southwestern coast of mainland Haiti.

In this village, there are no roads, no electricity, no clean drinking water and no hospitals.  Previously, school only went through fourth grade.
There was no money to pay the teachers and no money to build a school building.
Hope came in the form of a tuition assistance program and a promise of construction of a school.

By the grace of God, in 2007, GRACE School was born!  Community leaders joined forces and offered the participation of the villagers to help with the construction of the school.
Teachers began receiving salaries.  Many students who had never had the opportunity to go to school now had a chance at an education.

When school opens for the 2010-2011 school year, GRACE School will be offering classes for kindergarten through eighth grade!  Never before have classes been offered to area children beyond sixth grade!  It is anticipated that 500 students will enroll!

An added blessing is a feeding program that is available to each school child on each school day.
For some children, this meal is the only meal they will have all day!

One must understand that no school in Haiti is free.  Even if the tuition is only $15 per month, parents who have a monthly income of $30 per month
cannot afford to send even one of their children to school.
This results in a vast number of children in Haiti with a lack of education
and a lack of employment skills.

Caribbean Children's Foundation is pleased to now be able to invite children to school who have never gone to school before.  Some of these children may be fourteen or fifteen years old.
Even though these children will enter school at a first grade level,
the children will finally have a chance to learn reading, writing, math and other skills.
They will have the chance to dream the dream of becoming somebody!
In the future, they will have a real chance at providing an income to feed and clothe their families.

Individuals, civic groups, churches and other organizations can make a
long-lasting investment in a child's future.
Please consider sponsoring a child to go to school for $180 per year.
Consider donating funds or labor to aid in the continuing construction of GRACE School!
You can make a difference in the lives of children who previously had no hope for a future!

In the 2009-2010 school year, GRACE School had 320 students.
With addition of a second floor, GRACE School expects 500 students for the 2010-2011 school year!
Tuition assistance sponsorships help students in a variety of Haitian schools!

Photos of some of the students sponsored for the 2010-2011 school year are shown below!
